For years there has been a gradual increase of tourists in Soccsargen and to fully implement a strong tourism in the region. The Department of Tourism Region 12 had its Open Forum and Press Launching of Shariff Kabunsuan Festival 2016 and Balingala Fashion Fair which was held in Davao City Last November 30, 2016 at Sunny Point Hotel Maa, Davao City.
It was DOT Region 12 Head Maam Nelly Nita N. Dillera who spearheaded the campaign of promoting the Tourism in SOCCSARGEN together with Ms.Norianne Lou Frondoza City Tourism Officer and Mara Dumama Hijab Ambassador of the Philippines,
The Press Conforence was rather intimate, with a culture theme event, It was extremely astonishing when I first came in since it was my first time to grace a Muslim Inspired event.
There were also Muslim foods served they were extremely delicious what makes it more remarkable was the way they presented to media .
There were some Media people like in prints,radio, tv and Davao Digital Influencers who attended the event, we listened well and ask relevant and important questions to DOT At the Open Forum segment.
The highlight of this event was to promote SOCCSARGEN particularly the upcoming 2016 Sharriff Kabunsuan Festival in Cotabato CIty. It will kick off on December 15, 2016 the launching of several activities. First is the Mini Guinakit COmpetition to be held at the People's Palace Grounds. In this activity, the individuals and groups are invitied to join and compete for the most decorative and most relevant guinakit.
Next is the launching of Bangala Fashion: BIMP-EAGA Exhibit. This is an activity that will showcase the different traditional dresses of the people of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. Later on these costumes will be worn by local models in the fashion fair.
Also for the first time a festival bazaar will be conducted for the duration of the celebration which will feature products from local entrepreneurs.
During the Festival there were be a series of activities up for its local people and tourists. Grand Parade is expected, Watch the Guinakit Fluvial Parade and the Grand Pagana.
This year's celebration will put an emphasize the great potential of the city to become Mindanao's next tourist destination.
